Surfing through the Ron Paul Forums and various Ron Paul sites this evening, I was struck by how wide spread and diverse this campaign is. For example, in August of 2007, not even the most hardcore RP supporter would have ever conceived the idea of the Ron Paul Blimp!
It just amazes me how many people do not seem to truly understand what is taking place. I truly feel like a paradigm shift is occurring, and the people of this country are speaking out in droves. One example of this is via Meetups. For those of you unfamiliar with Meetups, they are essentially where people who share common interests with other people locally in their area meet online and agree to organize as a group in person and host events. In the form of the Presidential campaign, the meet up groups are the ones that set up events, sign wavings, and other activities in order to help the campaign from a grassroots level.
As you will see in the following images posted below, every other campaign is top-down and the message is controlled, whereas the Ron Paul Revolution is truly the most bottoms-up campaign any of us have seen in our lifetimes. We, the People, have spoken, and we are tired of the same old gang of liars and crooks running Washington and this country down the toilet.
A few days ago, one of the Meetup leaders who formed a group in the Los Angeles area with the purpose of getting Barack Obama elected announced that he was now registering as a Republican and putting his support behind Ron Paul. He posted the following on the ObamaLA.com website that he ran:
"My name is Marc Whittemore. I started the original grassroots group ObamaLA and carried it until it was 2,500 people strong. Having done substancially more homework now I am inclined to switch my vote.
Make no mistake about it -- I think Obama would make an AWESOME President -- far better than any other stale "part of the problem" Democrat running. However. In case you have not noticed America is picking up "flush momentum" and going down the tubes FAST. We no longer have time for rehersals or inexperience. We MUST get it right and get it right this time. We don't even have the luxury of voting along party lines if we are to get it right.
And so. Even more surprising is that for the first time in my 32 years of voting I will be voting for a Republican president. And that Republican is Ron Paul. Listen people. And take the time to listen CLOSELY to Ron Paul -- because, like the last, we can ill afford one more drastic idiot mistake in the White House. Lives depend on making the right choice -- indeed our entire nation depends on the right choice this time.
Los Angeles, CA"
Very interesting. I wonder how Obama's supporters will react to this news, and how they view Marc's rationale for voting for Ron Paul. Another strange tidbit that made the news recently was Dennis Kucinich's wife saying that her husband would "absolutely consider supporting Ron Paul". The following day, Kucinich himself said that he would not shy away from Ron Paul serving as his Vice-President.
“I’m thinking about Ron Paul” as a running mate, Kucinich told a crowd of about 70 supporters at a house party here, one of numerous stops throughout New Hampshire over the Thanksgiving weekend. A Kucinich-Paul administration could bring people together “to balance the energies in this country,” Kucinich said.
Too crazy for me to comment. They are polar opposites, and such a ticket seems infathomable to me, although intriguing.
I will end this blog post with a great video that was made by aweirdpoet.
But before I go, here is a reminder! On Wednesday, November 28, 2007, CNN will be airing the Youtube/CNN GOP Debate, which will be held in St. Petersburg, Florida. It will air from 8 PM to 10 PM, and should be a lot of fun to watch, because average American citizens like you and me are the ones asking the candidates questions. Check it out! You'll be surprised at how interesting it could and will get. Meanwhile, folks in Ron Paul Nation are preparing for the rally in ways that only RP supporters are capable of!
Thanks for reading through this long post! Till next time!
